DIY projects for spring

Happy first day of spring! Even though the weather isn't exactly warm today in Milwaukee, it's time to say goodbye to winter and look forward to a fresh start. Take a look at some helpful tips and DIY projects that will transform your home into a spring oasis:

  • Decorate walls: Don't neglect your home's walls! Get creative by applying spring-themed decals – like flowers or butterflies – to the walls in your bathroom or child's room. And, as always, embellish windows with vibrant custom curtains and drapes. Sheer draperies are perfect for spring since they are light, airy and allow sunlight to flourish in your room!
  • Indoor garden: "Fill a few shelves on a bookcase or open cupboard with your favorite vases, pitchers, floral buckets, mason jars and a basket of supplies (twine, scissors, floral frogs), and you'll never have to go scrambling for a vase again," writes Houzz.com contributor Laura Gaskill. "For bonus style points, keep at least one of the vases on display filled with fresh flowers and organize by color, shape or material."
  • Message board: Looking for a creative way to display inspirational quotes, messages and important reminders? Simply paint a set of old colors with a vibrant hue like blue or pink. Then attach notes and magazine clippings to the fixture like Gaskill shows here. This item will look great in your home office and will help keep you organized!
