A look at some popular curtain fabrics

Deciding on the right curtains for your Lake County or Milwaukee area home can be a challenge if you aren’t familiar with the plethora of different options to choose from. You need to consider length, color, style and more to ensure that your window treatments perfectly complement the rest of the decor in that particular area of your house.

At Bazaar Home Decorating, we can create custom window coverings to suit whatever unique vision you have in mind. And, if you need a little bit of help or advice, we have friendly, experienced staff members who can work with you to determine which options are best for your home.

Previously in this blog we’ve focused on topics such as curtain trends for 2013 and the ideal panel length for different rooms. Today, we’re shifting the focus to the different fabrics you can consider for your window dressings:

Cotton – Simple and versatile, cotton is the way to go for basic curtains in utility rooms like a kitchen, office or laundry room.

Linen – If you love sheer curtains – which, according to a variety of home decor websites, are very popular at the moment – using linen fabric is the best way to accomplish this look. These window treatments are especially nice for parts of the home where you want to emphasize natural lighting or to give a room a summery vibe as the warmer months approach.

Velvet – This dramatic fabric is often seen in formal areas such as a dining room or living room. Luxurious velvet in deep, bold colors can give any room a romantic, extravagant feel. And, during the winter, this fabric can even help keep out the cold.
