Academy Awards trends applied to the home

Did you catch the glamorous Academy Awards this past Sunday? As we promised, today's blog will be devoted to the top trends of the the night. Often, what we see on the red carpet is also expected to make a big splash in the home design realm. Take a look at the hues that dazzled and learn how to apply them to your Milwaukee home:

  • Neutrals: Flesh-toned dresses were all the rage on Sunday night. Everyone from Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett to Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Sally Hawkins showed up wearing a neutral gown. However, these garments were anything but boring, as they were all embellished with sparkles and beading. The neutral trend looks great in the home sector as well. Try painting your living room wall a shade of tan and then jazzing up the area with embellished custom curtains and drapes.
  • Pastels: Pastels are having quite a moment in 2014, both on the red carpet and in the home. No one showed off the trend as exquisitely as Best Supporting Actress winner Lupita Nyong'o. "[My dress] is a blue that reminds me of Nairobi….I wanted to have a little bit of home," the actress told Ryan Secreast in an interview for E! News. Also known as duck-egg blue, the soft shade will also make quite a splash in your home. Pale blue draperies look great in nearly every room, ranging from the living room to bedroom.
