Create Christmas cheer with an at-home bar

If you're hosting a holiday party in your home this year, there's a lot of decorating decisions you need to think about—one of them being the design of your at-home bar. After all, it is the season to be jolly. From eggnog to hot toddies, treat your guests to festive concoctions. Learn how to entertain in style with these tips for setting up an at-home bar in your Milwaukee space:

  • Presentation is everything: Do you ever notice that drinks look more expensive when they're served at an upscale bar or fancy club? That's because when it comes to hosting, presentation is everything. Make sure your bar (or makeshift mixology station) is clean and organized. Furthermore, purchase fancy martini glasses and garnishes for an added touch of festivity.
  • Provide non-alcoholic options: Be sure to purchase plenty of non-alcoholic beverages for the little ones, and those who don't drink. A hot-chocolate bar is great way to provide fun for guests of all ages.
  • Store your alcohol properly: "Liquor will keep for a long time, particularly in a cool place away from direct sunlight," reports MarthaStewart.com. "The lower the liquid level, though, the more quickly you should consume the liquor, as the air in the bottle will leach out the flavors. Vermouth, however, is a wine, and should be refrigerated and drunk fairly quickly." If you're worried about direct sunlight spoiling your alcohol, keep it in an area far from windows, or as always, block sun with drapes and blinds.
