Does your home have the blues? Here’s how you can decorate with this popular color

Blue is a popular color among designers and home decorators, and it’s easy to understand why. This calming hue comes in so many different shades that you can work it into virtually any part of your Milwaukee area home. Whether you prefer bright turquoise or a muted blue-grey, there are a number of ways to beautify your house with this trusty color.

“Whatever blue you choose, commit to it 100 percent,” designer Andrew Suvalsky told HGTV.com, the website of the popular cable television network. “There are myriad beautiful shades of blues. All are valid choices, but just use them specifically and meaningfully.”

Here are a few different shades of blue to consider decorating with, and some ideas for how to incorporate them into your home:

Navy – This nautical color is great for a bathroom or a screened-in porch, especially when paired with white. A navy sofa against a white wall, for example, can really be brought to life with fun decor such as anchors and fish adorning the room. Some patterned custom window coverings will provide the perfect finish for your nautical-themed space.

Slate – An adaptable shade of blue-grey such as this one can be worked into your home in many different ways. This is an ideal choice for a wall color – particularly in a living room or bedroom – because it gives off a calm, soothing vibe.

Turquoise – Accents of this bright, peacock hue can enliven any monochromatic room. You may want to consider investing in teal picture frames or even getting in touch with your local Milwaukee fabric store about making some custom pillows to display on that grey living room chair.
