Fashion at People’s Choice Awards reflects home design trends

The People's Choice Awards on January 8 officially kicked off this year's award season. As you know, interior design trends often mimic the looks on the runway. If you want to stay up-to-date on all of the popular styles of 2014, take a look at the top fashion choices seen on last night's red carpet:

  • Cobalt blue: We've already told you how popular blue is supposed to be this year, both in terms of fashion and interior design. "Girls" star Allison Williams proved our point yesterday when she stunned the crowd in a gorgeous cobalt blue belted David Koma dress. Williams paired her blue ensemble with neutral shoes and accessories. If you want to stay trendy in your home, cobalt blue window coverings are the way to go!
  • Color blocking: Although color blocking was hugely popular in 2013, it appears this trend isn't slowing down anytime soon! "Glee" star Naya Rivera stepped out in a gorgeous color blocking dress in the neutral shades of black, white and beige.
  • Winter white: Many stars opted for classic, winter white looks. "Jessica Alba looked perfectly polished in an understated white strapless Jason Wu dress," reported Emily Popp of EOnline.com. "Jennifer Hudson also took the simple route and went with a curve-hugging, white hot number that allowed her bright pink lip to pop." Take a cue from Ms. Hudson when decorating your room. White backgrounds or window fashions allow brightly colored home accessories and furniture to stand out.
