SAG Award fashion trends applied to the home

Another winter weekend has come and gone, meaning we have a host of fashion trends to report on from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards. As you know, the runway and the interior design realm often go hand-and-hand, taking inspiration from one another. Check out some of the top trends seen at the January 18th award show and learn how to apply these colors, patterns and prints in your Milwaukee home:

  • Metallics: "Metallic wearers include Sandra Bullock's green Lanvin dress, Sofia Vergara's gunmetal gray  Donna Karan frock and Emilia Clarke's rose gold Calvin Klein number," writes Jesselle Mamint of the International Business Times. "Jewels on the red carpet include Lupita Nyong'o's turquoise Gucci dress, Jennifer Lawrence's sparkly Dior (which resembles a really dark and sparkly opal) and Elisabeth Moss's ruby red number by Michael Kors." As you may know, metallic tones are especially popular in home design lately. To get the look, incorporate gold, silver or bronze custom drapery into your living room. Make these fixtures pop with bedazzled throw pillows.
  • Shades of blue: The stars are already channeling color authority Pantone's top color for spring 2014. Red may have been the hot color of the Golden Globe awards, but blue reigned on last night's red carpet. Amy Adams and Kelly Osbourne opted for chic shades of cobalt, while Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Garner stayed classy in navy blue. Get the look in your home by choosing from an array of blue fabrics from Bazaar Home Decorating Center.
