This spring, consider adding pops of color to the outside of your house

We've spent a lot of time in this blog focusing on interior home decor, but with the warmer weather fast approaching, it's the perfect time to begin thinking about revamping the outside of your house. While many folks select neutral paint colors for their property's exterior, there's no rule saying you can't choose a bolder shade.

Before you commit to a new look, Theresa Clement, who co-hosts a home improvement radio show called MyFixitUpLife, suggests slowly working it into the outdoor decor to see if you really like it.

"Select a color you love and then paint a bench, your door knocker or flower planters in that color," Clement said in a press release. "Live with the 'burst of color' outside your home for a while before adding it permanently to your house. Then, when you're comfortable, go ahead and use that color – or shades of the hue – to paint your front door, shutters and trim to make a lasting impression."

Clement offered up additional tips for incorporating pops of color outside the home. Bright pillows and furniture can make a patio area truly stand out, for example. Or, if you plan to decorate your yard and walkway with potted plants once the weather is warmer, consider painting the containers a bold color.
