Top color trends of the Golden Globes applied to the home

Did you tune in to see last night's Golden Globes? If so, you probably noticed the glamorous gowns worn by the stars. As we mentioned last week, the interior design world often takes a lot of inspiration from the fashion industry. Check out some of the top runway looks from the star-studded award show and learn how to apply them to your own Milwaukee home:

  • Color block: America's sweethearts Sandra Bullock and Taylor Swift successfully pulled off the color-block trend. Bullock's black Prabal Gurung gown popped with splashes of blue and pink. Similarly, Swift's Carolina Herrera dress boasted a black top and a brighter cherry-pink hue on the bottom. From the looks of these gowns, you can see the contrast is all the rage, both on the runway and in the interior design realm. To achieve this trend in your home, contrast your window fashions with the paint color of your wall to truly make these fixtures stand out.
  • Red hot: "One of the biggest trends of the evening? Crimson.," reports EOnline.com. "It was as if Hollywood just discovered the color red! Everyone from Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Narcisco Rodriguez to Amy Adams in Valentino donned a red gown. But Lupita Nyong'o stole the show in a breathtaking Ralph Lauren red cape dress." If you're bold enough to try red in the home sector, then go for it! Red couches make great statement furniture pieces, while crimson custom curtains and drapes can keep you right on trend.
