Use glass furniture to make the most of great views

Here in Milwaukee, many of us are lucky enough to live in an area surrounded by nature. In many homes, the views are a part of the decor, and with large windows set up to capture breathtaking scenery, there doesn't seem to be much of a need to compete with it by adding complex furniture and decor to an interior. After all, if you were to choose to outfit your home with nontraditional colors and fabrics, it might take away from its position among the beautiful natural surroundings.

Instead, making use of interesting neutrals and architectural furniture can be a great way to come up with stylish decor in your home that won't detract from your incredible views. Choose one or two attractive tones for your upholstered furniture and alternate those for variety. You can then add in interest by using a single accent hue to give the space a little bit of variety.

If you really want to put the focus on your views, try making use of glass furniture for a slightly reflective surface that will remind visitors to look out the window. A glass coffee or dining room table is a great way to spice up the design of your space and differentiate it just a little bit.

Of course, for those times when you do need to close the blinds against your million-dollar views, it helps to have blinds and shades that you can rely on and that tuck out of sight when they're not in use.
